Tidying up the badly organised Swindon Road Waste and Recycling Centre is welcomed but the Council’s ‘relaunch’ statements make NO mention of the provision of household and garden waste services.

This deliberate omission has led residents to complain that the Borough Council’s recent consultation on Swindon Road is no more than another tick-box exercise.

The potential refusal to take rubbish destined for landfill or incineration at Swindon Road will force householders to drive out of the borough to Stoke Orchard in Tewkesbury’s area, increasing fly tipping, traffic and engine emissions.

We need to recycle more and throw less away, but this approach from the Lib Dem-dominated council is ill thought through – yet it ploughs on with more ‘consultation’ until it gets the answer it wants, not what residents need.
